About Chariots of Essex
Priory Mini Buses was purchased as a going concern by Mr.R.T.Flavin in 1983. The company consisted of on elderly mini bus and some good will. In it’s first month of trading a total of £60.00 was earnt.
The business gradually flourished until a premises was required and the company moved into a depot at Laindon. Although the company proceeded to expand it had built a reputation for only operating more elderly vehicles, which was causing a watering down of the true quality on offer.
In May 1994 a further move was required to the present operating centre it operates from today. At this point the decision was taken to change the company name from Priory Mini Buses / Priory of Essex to Chariots of Essex along with new corporate branding. The older vehicles remained in priory branding to show a different class of vehicle.
Along with this move and the acquisition of it’s own workshops, Chariots expanded into the commercial repair & recovery sector thus utilising all amenities available.
Early 1999 saw a major restructuring of the coach business with the premise being an increase in turnover & profitability by launching the company into all segments of coach travel & tourism.
